CDNetworks Co. Ltd. wasn't the only content delivery network (CDN) announcing a new customer this week. BitGravity Inc. and Internap Network Services Corp. (Nasdaq: INAP) also announced new deals, as competition continues in the content delivery space.
BitGravity shuttles into orbit
BitGravity announced that it won a deal with commercial space vehicle manufacturer SpaceX to deliver online video of the company's shuttle launches.
BitGravity has already proven successful in one project -- SpaceX's Sept. 28 launch of its Falcon 1 rocket into orbit. The CDN streamed the rocket's launch, and is also delivering archived video footage of the event.
Internap connects fashionistas
Meanwhile, Internap was chosen by New York-based online fashion site Beautiful Stranger.TV. The site attempts to connect users with the latest duds by conducting short impromptu video interviews with pretty people on the street about what they're wearing, and then providing links for viewers to buy those fashions.
According to the press release, Internap was chosen for its 100 percent performance service level agreement (SLA), as well as the addition of value-added services such as transcoding, mobile support, and digital asset management, among other things.
