iStreamPlanet Co. has added Move Networks Inc. 's technology to its new video management platform as part of a just-announced technology and reseller agreement.
The integration of Move Networks technology with iStreamPlanet's video management system will allow Web publishers to easily set up live video events and manage on-demand video assets that incorporate Move's adaptive streaming technology.
iStreamPlanet CEO Mio Babic says his company has also created multiple video templates that leverage the Move Networks technology, enabling publishers to easily customize the video experience they present to end users.
The partnership puts the finishing touches on iStreamPlanet's new video management platform, called iStream Director, which has been designed to allow Web publishers to take content from multiple systems and to publish it in multiple formats.
In addition to supporting Move Networks technology, iStream Director allows content owners to publisher their video in Adobe Systems Inc.'s Flash and Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT)'s Windows Media and Silverlight formats, all from a single management platform.
For Move Networks, the deal is designed to open up a whole new segment of the video market for its technology. While the company has managed to grab a number of live and on-demand media customers, most of its deals have been with large broadcasters such as ABC Inc. and Fox Broadcasting Co.
The partnership with iStreamPlanet is designed to allow media companies that may not have the technology expertise or dedicated staff of a major media conglomerate to also use its video technology.
"Move built this thing for large companies. But we're looking to extend the Move technology to other people's hands," iStreamPlanet's Babic says. "What we wanted to do was figure out a way that we could make this available to companies, even if they don't have huge managed services staffs, like ABC or Fox. Anyone in world can use this thing."
Last month, Move
announced a similar deal with
PermissionTV Inc. to be integrated with that company's video management platform.
