New Yahoo Inc. (Nasdaq: YHOO) CEO Carol Bartz began putting her house in order today, announcing a major reorganization of the company's management structure.
In a blog post today, Bartz told Yahoos that the new management structure was designed to speed the decision-making process, get rid of silos within the company, and better react to customer demands.
According to a company memo obtained by Kara Swisher at All Things D, the reorganization includes the consolidation of the company's tech and product groups, the addition of a new chief marketing officer, and the news that the company's CFO is stepping down.
The company's Tech and Products groups will be consolidated into a single Products group led by EVP of Products and CTO Ari Balogh. According to the memo, the group will be responsible for all products, "regardless of region, device format or category."
The company will be split into two geographical regions, North America and International. The North American region will be led by Hilary Schneider, with an International head yet to be determined.
Yahoo has created a new chief marketing officer position, which will be held by NetApps marketing vice president Elisa Steele starting March 23. The new CMO position will oversee all the company's various marketing teams.
The company will also create a Customer Advocacy group to monitor customer demands that will be fed back into the rest of the organization, and a Service Engineering & Operations (SE&O) team to create common technology to be used across the organization.
The company also announced that CFO Blake Jorgenson will step down after a replacement can be found.
