Concurrent Computer Corp. (Nasdaq: CCUR) and Clearleap announced that they are integrating Concurrent's hosted Media Data and Advertising Solutions (MDAS) product with Clearpleap's network-based content distribution platform.
Clearleap's distribution platform works by allowing MSOs to subscribe to feeds of Internet-based video content and tailoring those feeds to show up in customer's set-top-based interactive program guides (IPGs).
By integrating its distribution platform with Concurrent's MDAS, Clearleap customers will be able to not just distribute Internet video into cable networks, but they will also be able to receive real-time data about how viewers are consuming that content.
"We're putting together a closed-loop ecosystem, where we're grabbing all the consumption information," says Craig Schwabl, chief architect of data and advertising solutions at Concurrent. "We can provide almost real-time performance data to content owners.
An added benefit is the ability to better monetize their content, by enabling higher-value addressable advertising through the joint offering. With the data collected, advertisers can better target certain pieces of content or tweak campaigns depending on which videos -- and which ads -- are performing well.
"There are hundreds of thousands of new pieces of content flowing into the Internet TV system," says Clearleap CEO Braxton Jarratt. "Determining what's performing is absolutely relevant to building one's overall content offering and being able to adjust it dynamically."
According to Jarratt, the deal is a co-marketing, co-sale arrangement where Clearleap and Concurrent salespeople will work together on accounts looking to leverage both companies' products. "The default is that customers will pay each of us separately, but we're open to customer-driven deals on a case-by-case basis," he says.
While the companies haven't totally worked out the integration, they say that they are already talking to customers about the joint offering and should have commercial availability in the next month or two.
