Online video platform provider Ooyala Inc. has named a new chief executive, replacing founder Bismarck Lepe with former Agile Software CEO Jay Fulcher.
Fulcher brings years of operational experience running enterprise software firms like Agile and PeopleSoft. While at PeopleSoft, he helped grow the company's global services organization from $250 million in revenues to more than $1 billion in revenues a year.
With the new CEO in place, Lepe will assume the title of president, taking more of a product-focused role in the company.
The news comes just weeks after rumors swirled that the company had hired an executive search firm to hunt for a new chief exec. At that time, Lepe told Contentinople that the executive search was about finding the right person for every position -- even the CEO role.
"The company is doing well right now," Lepe said, "but there's always the possibility that it could be doing better."
After just a few years in business, Ooyala seems to be performing well in an increasingly crowded market for online video management. Since the beginning of the year, Ooyala has doubled head count, and it recently added some senior sales personnel from Move Networks Inc., Akamai Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: AKAM), and The FeedRoom.
