Looking to fight hate speech in its user-generated videos, YouTube is teaming up with the Anti-Defamation League to launch an Abuse & Safety Center on its Website.
A link to the Abuse & Safety Center has been added to the bottom of every YouTube page. YouTube users can use the page to report videos that involve several abuse and safety issues, including suicide, impersonation, hateful content, teen safety, harassment, cyber bullying, and privacy.
YouTube’s move follows high-profile incidents in the last month involving suicide and cyber bullying. Last month, a Florida teenager broadcast his suicide on Website Justin.TV. And in Pembroke Pines, Fla., a high school student was suspended for creating a Facebook page that criticized a teacher, prompting her to sue her former principal for allegedly violating her First Amendment rights.
