Michael Jackson videos are as popular as ever, with music videos from the King of Pop representing eight of the top 10 online videos for the summer, according to measurement firm TubeMogul.

Jackson videos drove 118 million views on YouTube Inc. and other sites, with Thriller pulling 28 million views. But the most popular online video of the summer was the trailer for Twilight movie New Moon, which generated 38 million views, according to TubeMogul.

Another big hit was the couple that danced to Chris Brown song "Forever" as they walked down the aisle. JK Wedding Entrance Dance drew 15 million views, and no doubt left couples worldwide wondering if they should consider spicing up their own wedding with a wacky dance.

Also in the news:

  • Paramount Pictures COO Frederick Huntsberry is so concerned about online piracy that he reportedly asked the FCC to keep a presentation on movie theft that he gave the commission off its Website. Huntsberry was apparently concerned about Web surfers learning about which Websites contain pirated movies, since he showed the commission sites that he claims contain illegal copies of Hollywood hits, including Mininova and Drop.io. He even brought Internet TV firm Boxee into the discussion, noting that someone could build a plug-in for its application that would allow viewers to access pirated content on the Web.

  • Citing "improving macro conditions [and] a stronger ad market," Barclays Capital analyst Douglas Anmuth raised his estimates on Google. The analyst says his research finds that Google has increased pricing for its search ads during the last few months, including the prices that it charges the retail and auto sectors.

  • Cablevision Systems Corp. launched an MSG Varsity Website to accompany its video-on-demand channel with the same name. But the site, which covers high school teams in Cablevision’s New York metropolitan area footprint, is only available to Web surfers who are also paying Cablevision subscribers. The move gives Cablevision more experience in "TV Everywhere" style authentication.
