Social media is going Hollywood: Last summer we heard Aaron Sorkin was writing a movie about Facebook. Now there's a TV show about Twitter Inc. in the works.

Twitter signed a contract with production companies Reveille and Brillstein Entertainment to allow them to develop an unscripted TV show based on Twitter. It's unclear what exactly the show would involve, but according to Variety it has been described as "putting ordinary people on the trail of celebrities in a revolutionary competitive format." The series concept was developed by novelist and screenwriter Amy Ephron (sister of screenwriter and novelist Nora Ephron).

"We've found a compelling way to bring the immediacy of Twitter to life on TV," Brillstein's Jon Liebman told Variety.

Twitter's Biz Stone posted a blog explaining that "there is no official Twitter TV show," and the site may be involved in a number of potential television projects. Can. Not. Wait.

In other news:

  • Susan Boyle is generating an amazing amount of traffic online, but has anyone actually made any money off the unlikely star? FremantleMedia Enterprises, the company that owns the international digital rights for Britain's Got Talent, uploaded the clips to YouTube, but they don't seem to be generating any ad revenue for the company, The New York Times reports.

  • Nokia Corp. (NYSE: NOK) has launched its "Ovi" app store today, in hopes of competing with Apple's App Store. But so far, many are feeling underwhelmed by the slow performance, limited selection of apps, and complicated navigation, with one even calling the launch "a complete disaster."
