CBS Corp. (NYSE: CBS) isn't going to sit on the sidelines as Hulu LLC becomes the portal for professional content online. It seems that they've been busy working on their own HD portal.
CBS has launched HD Gallery on TV.com, a property of the company thanks to this year's CNET acquisition. Full episodes of shows currently on the network are available in hi-def, and have what has become de riguer in online video advertising: pre-, mid-, and post-roll ads, in addition to display ads alongside the site's Adobe Flash Player. One interesting difference between their ad strategy and other online video sites' is the display and rolled ads are from different advertisers (*gasp*).
And CBS's radio division has launchedPlay.it, according to Wired Epicenter. The free-to-join music-streaming service is a Pandora-MySpace Music-radio Webcasting hub hybrid.

The Sci-Fi Channel has taken its Web show, Sanctuary, to the television, reports Reuters. Leave it to the channel that targets Webizens to lead the nerd parade back to the television. But the show isn't out of the red quite yet -- its Canadian producers and investors haven't completely recouped their initial investment, despite being picked up by Sci Fi and distributed abroad.
